I was recently invited on our local news station (King 5 News) to share my books and some fun science ideas.  As you all know, I'm a huge fan of using the items you have around the house to learn (because who has time to make a bunch of trips to different stores, am I right?).  One of our favorite things to do is explore plants with seeds and food scraps, so that's what I shared.

The Curious Kid's Science Book has an entire chapter dedicated to learning about and experimenting with plants, but for two quick "Explore" activities, check out the clip below:

Want the FREE printable greenhouse shown in the video?  Just visit the Zoey and Sassafras website's printables section here.

Oh, and here's a peek at the plants that appeared on TV two weeks later:

And here's a bonus clip of a segment I did on how to encourage scientific questions using baking soda and vinegar from the grocery store:

  1. Dear Asia!I wanted so much to write to you! Your ideas are so great and your photos are astonishing! Your wonderful activities have inspired me so much as a mother of two children(4 and 6 years old), but also as a special education teacher! They've helped me have a great time with them instead of getting bored or watching tv! I have tried almost all of them again and again, since my chilren were so little! Now that I am back to school they are also useful to me! Thank you for sharing this great stuff with us!!!
PS. I would like to order some of your books, do you know if they come to Greece???

    1. Hi Katerina! Thank you for the kind note! I am so glad to hear that the activities have been helpful. Yes, my books can all be sent to Greece. Either Book Depository or Wordery will offer discounted pricing and free shipping to Greece for all of my books, but you should also be able to order them through a local bookstore or library. Thank you so much for everything you do for kids as a special education teacher!!! <3
