No Mess Halloween Sensory Bin: Halloween Snakes

Thursday, October 3, 2013

Does it get any cooler than a no-mess all ages Halloween bin?  We don't think so.  Though we love messy play, it's nice to have something easy to clean up.  This bin would be great for babies or toddlers, and is still super fun for preschoolers.  We've had fun with pumpkins and spiders so far, so we thought we'd mix it up a bit and play with some pretend snakes.  :)

As with any yarn, string, rope, or ribbon - always provide constant adult supervision as there is a risk of injury or strangulation.

X literally leapt into the bin as soon as I set it out and settled right in.

He loved the smooth scaly feel of the "snakes" on his feet and toes.

And he loved inspecting each snake closely.

S got another chance to practice her scissor skills by trimming some of the snakes.

She also had a blast decorating her brother.  (He LOVED being decorated!)

We loved exploring the properties of our "snakes".  They can streeeeeeetch.

And they can also squish down!

They make a fabulous hairdo.

And they are SO MUCH FUN to throw in the air.

We've had them out all week and the kiddos have been loving them.  This bin could not be easier to put together or clean up - all you need is some Flex Mesh Tube Ribbon.  I found ours at Michaels for $3 a bag (two bags are pictured) - most fabric stores carry this type of ribbon in their ribbon section, or you can buy it online at Amazon.

  2. I was just at Michaels yesterday and saw these. I thought they would be cool to play with, but didn't buy any as I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them! Too bad I didn't see this activity before then.
