Disclosure:  Discount School Supply generously provided us with the awesome Tissue Paper Grass we used in our sensory bin.

We made some beautiful DIY Rainbow Wooden Easter Eggs for some fun Easter play (you can catch the tutorial here) and I thought I'd share some of the fun ways we've been using them.  If you don't have wooden eggs, plastic eggs would work just as well for all the following activities.  :)

First up is in an Easter sensory bin.  I hid the eggs amongst the matching tissue paper grass for X to go on a little egg hunt.  If you have an older toddler, they may be able to match them up themselves (X is still learning his colors).  He had so much fun digging through to find each egg.  He loved the texture of the fun shredded tissue paper grass.

As he found the eggs, I would name the color "look you found the BLUE egg!" to reinforce his color learning.

A child who has partially mastered (or fully) may enjoy a simple sorting activity.  Using an upside down bowl, I made circles on construction paper.  S is quite proficient with her colors but was eager to demonstrate how it works for you all.  :)

And finally S's favorite way to play is an indoor egg scavenger hunt.  We each take turns hiding eggs and we use the terms "warmer" and "colder" to give hints to the egg hunter ("warmer" if you are moving in the correct direction and "colder" if you are moving further away from the egg).

Found it!

I love how the eggs peek out brightly from their indoor hiding spots.

If you'd like to make your own set of Rainbow Wooden Easter Eggs, the tutorial can again be found here.
